"Nina" is a very bold and confident dog with a demanding personality. She is a very loving dog in the home, that's the demanding part! In the field she shows many of her sires traits in her aggressive prey drive, intense tracking ability, and ability to locate game. "Ammo", her sire was our first DK (Deutsch Kurzhaar). Nina has a mid-range search and is very biddable as well in the field and at home.
"Ava" is a very calm close range hunter. She is very thorough in the field with strong prey drive and good stamina. Her ability for long distance tracking and retrieving is remarkable, as well as a very strong swimmer and retriever in the water. She is a very playful and affectionate female at home.
"Piper" is a half sister to Ava and is a very loving calm dog with a kind personality. She has a close to mid range search, strong prey drive, and a love for water. She is a good retriever on both land and in water as well as a keen nose for tracking.
Our "pick of the litter", this repeat breeding of Snoopy's final litter was an easy decision. From the early age of 14 weeks after a set back of a broken leg, "Syren" took to water and birds with ease. She has a strong drive, pleasant and calm temperament, and showing tremendous natural ability in the field.
"Syren" has begun her first hunting season with great success! Her first hunt in Montana offered her solid points, tracks, and several water retrieves. Her solid confident drive and personality offer a very pleasurable dog to hunt over.

Calvert's Lunar Eclipse
Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Snoopy this year.
"Snoopy" has been a favorite here with visitors. Her outgoing calm demeanor and pleasant personality makes her easy to fall in love with. She is a very calm and confident dog in the field and in the water. Her desire for birds and biddability in the field have always made it a pleasure to hunt over her. Her offspring have proven themselves in the field as well and have made extraordinary companions in the home. She is retired from breeding and when not in the field she is spoiled at home.
Always in our Hearts
Since 1991, we have had many wonderful GSP's in our lives. We think of them often and see resemblances of them in their offspring today. They will always be remembered and be a huge part of who we are today. Our lives are enriched with their memories.
"Harley" - Harley's Steele my Heart
"Harley" was our first purchased GSP....as our wedding gift to each other in 1994. He would eventually be the start of Calvert Kennels after being involved with GSP rescue for 7 years in Maryland and Virginia. We soon moved to Oregon and became involved with NAVHDA and established our kennel in 1997.
"Neela" - Calverts First Impression
"Neela" - 1997-2012
"Neela"- Our pick of the litter out of our first litter in 1997. She proved to be an exceptional girl...and Marks dog. A prize 1 perfect score 112 at 1yr old to the day on our first NAVHDA Natural Ability test. She continued to give all she had in the field and water until she was 14yrs old.
"Ammo" - Orions Ammo
"Ammo" 2000 - 2013
Our "Once in a lifetime" type of dog. Ammo was every bit all DK. He was our first import Deutsch Kurzhaar and an excellent example of the breed. His confident, affectionate personality was a pleasure in the home and yet in the field he was very prey driven with a medium range search. Ammo was a very strong tracker and retriever in the field as well as in the water. His stamina and biddability in the field made for a pleasurable hunt every time. Currently his offspring have proven to be outstanding hunting companions. Our "Nina" is his daughter and shows many of his traits as well.
"Cali" - Tramac Cali Rose
"Cali" - 2004-2015
"Cali" was a very loving, playful dog and all desire in the field. She had a love of the water unrivalled by any dog. Her disposition was perfect and showed through her offspring. She was a close working dog and extremely biddable in the field and at home.
